Clean city day observed
Pratyush, Barasat Unnayan Prastuti, Prerona, Suryotoron Vidyapith and Barasat Human Rights Organisation jointly observed the Clean city day on 1st April,2013 at Barasat Railway station premises. Barasat Municipality decided in the year 2012 that they will observe Clean city day on the Foundation day of Barasat Municipality. The above mentioned organizations took it as an awareness program among the people and observed every year with presenting cultural program, signature campaign, leaflet distribution and popular lecture on environment cleanness.
Anti superstition programme
PRAYASH, a progressive social welfare organization of Kazipara and PRATYUSH jointly organized an attractive anti-superstition program on 7th April,2013 in the Pratyush Bhaban. The program witnessed more than 200 people of the Kazipara and Notipota areas.
Bengali New year Observed
Like every year, the children, their parents , members and well wishers of Pratyush enjoyed the Bengali New Year (NABABORSHO) on 15th April’2013. The program comprised of songs, dance, recitation and remembrances of the childhood experiences of the guardians . The program ended with distribution of sweets.
Annual Cultural Program
13th Annual cultural program was held on 16th June, 2013 at Ashok Chakraborty open air theater. The following personalities were felicitated for their contribution in the field of child care and protection : Kobi Debabrata Dutta, Dr. Dhiman Chatterjee (Child specialist), Sri Goutam Mukhopadhyay (Drama), Smt. Noireta Roy (singer), Sri Shyamal Som (Artist), Bidisha Mukhopadhyay (Educationist).
Prize distribution among the children of Pratyush in connection with the Annual cultural competition was one of the important event in that occasion. Sri Sunil Mukherjee (Chairman, Barasat Municipality), Sri Asok Ghosh (Social activist), Poet Nilacharya distributed the prizes among the children. The children performed songs, dance, recitation and a drama titled BHIM BADH.
Cultural performances at Indian Statistical Institute
Children of Pratyush presented a beautiful cultural program titled PRATYUSH EKTI PROTIGGYA at Platinum Jubilee Auditorium comprising dance, recitation, songs and drama on 24th July 2013. Dr. Sudeshna Basu, Dr. Sraboni Mukhopadhyay, Sri Nikhilesh Sengupta and Dr. Aniruddha Chakraborty jointly directed different parts of the program. Prof Bimal Roy, Director of ISI (Indian Statistical Institute) extended all sorts of help (including financial) for staging the events. Dr. Chakraborty, Secretary of Pratyush presented a beautiful handicraft showpiece (made by the mothers of Pratyush) to Prof. Bimal Roy.
Pratyush team at Salt Lake
Children of Pratyush presented a colourful cultural evening at Residency community hall of City Centre-I in Salt Lake in the month of August 2015, in connection with the birthday of Arin Mukherjee, son of Mrs. Bidisha Mukherje and Santanu Mukherjee. Invitees donated Rs. 35,000.00 for the development of the children of Pratyush.
Well wishers of Pratyush bring gift and provided lunch / dinner
Numbers of well wishers provided community lunch for the children and their parents at different times.
(a) Dr. Bhaswar Banerjee (dramatist, Dhaka) and Kobi Nilacharya, Members of MANASHI a welfare organization came on 11th August. They brought toys, used garments and donation
(b) Sri Sabir Ali, Smt Sunita Ali, their daughter Pakhi & son in law Pradeep Rahaman came together on 15th August to celebrate the birthday of Susmit Rahaman (son of Pakhi & Pradeep). In the evening on that day one welfare organization PRAYAS of Dum Dum brought used garments, winter cloths and foods.
(c) Sri Pradeep Biswas & Smt. Beauty Biswas came to celebrate the birthday of their only son Jit on 31st August 2013. They brought chocolates and gifts for the children of Pratyush.
(d) Dr. Pinaki Sarkar his wife Dr. Moitri Sarkar along with their parent (Mr. Tapas Sarkar & Mrs. Malabika sarkar) came on September 2013 to participate in a community dinner sponsored by them.
(e) Smt. Saswati Bandyopadhyay (Advocate) along with her husband and son came to Pratyush on 4th October 2013 and sponsored a community lunch. They also brought toys, pencils, books etc. for the children.
(f ) Smt. Snigdha Biswas and her son came on 9th October with winter garments for the children of Pratyush. They also brought food items for the children.
(g) SETU, an welfare organization of Birati, North 24 Prganas, brought educational materials on 29th September 2013.
(h) Like previous year, employees of the LEXMARK sent large amount of rice, pulses, flour, cheeped rice and send money prior to the Durga puja.
(i) Birthday of Shreyoshi Das, daughter of Sri Shyamal Das was celebrated at Pratyush. They brought beautiful gifts for the children and sponsored an attractive dinner for the all.
(j) Members of BDS Social network visited Pratyush on 5th January, 2014. They brought blanket for every child and sponsored community lunch for the all.
(k) PARISHROMI, a welfare organization of Birati donated a First Aid box to Pratyush on 9th February,2014.
(l) ANUBHOBE RABINDRANATH, a cultural organization donated school bags for the children of Pratyush at St. Jones ambulance auditorium, Barasat.
Celebration News
Rabindra jayanti – A beautiful cultural program was organized by the children of Pratyush on the birthday of Rabindranath Thakur on 18th May 2013 at Pratyush Bhaban. The program started with garlanding by the children, their guardians and members of Pratyush. Children, guardians and members presented lots of songs, recitation and dances. A drama Abak Jalapaan was performed by the children.
Nazrul Jayanti – Children, guardians and members of Pratyush paid homage to Nazrul Islam on 26th May 2013. Children performed songs, recitation & dance . Some children and members talked about the life and works of Kobi Nazrul.
Teachers Day – 125th Birth day celebration of Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan (observed as Teachers Day) was held at Pratyush bhaban with full of gratitude. Several teachers talked about the importance of teacher’s day and opined about the application of joyful learning system at Pratyush. Teachers of Pratyush were honoured by the children with flower bouquet and beautiful gifts.
Independence Day – Independence day was celebrated with full of honour . The program started with national flag hoisting, garlanding on the memorial monument of the freedom fighters and singing national anthem. Children talked about the history of freedom fight and our tasks ahead. Songs, recitation and drama were staged by the children. Sweets were distributed among all.
Sad demise of Dr Asok Mukhopadhyay
Dr. Asok Mukhopadhyay, homeopathy doctor, died on 21st September 2013. He was very closely knitted with the community of Pratyush. He had been looking after the medical treatment of the children and their guardians of Pratyush. Dr Mukhopadhyay was associated with Pratyush since its inception. Pratyush lost a good friend, well wisher and great support . A condolence meeting was organized jointly with his family on 6th October at Malancha.
Pratyush participated in the Handicrafts Festival
Handicraft wing of Pratyush (USHOSHI) participated in the pre-Durga puja handicraft and food festival at Alaktika Housing complex (Near City centre II), Rajarhat township on 4th October 2013. Smt. Sushmita Dasgupta, one of the organizer helped the Pratyush team to successfully completed their tasks. The organizer of the festival donated huge utensils, used garments and food. They also participated in the handicraft fair at Krishnanagar (Nadia) and Salt lake on 2nd and 3rd January respectively.
USHOSHI also participated in the environment fair organized by the North Dum Dum Municipality on 29th June with its jute based handicraft products and processed food items.
Bhaifota (ভাইফোঁটা)
One of the important cultural event of Bengal is Bhaifota ( sisters & brothers bonding ceremony). Children, guardians and members of Pratyush participated in the Bhaifota on 5th November 2013. Girls, mothers and lady members brought sacred items like sandal, curd and put them on the forehead of their brothers. At the end sweets were distributed to everyone.
Pratyush organized marriage
Pratyush also took responsibility of organizing marriage of Soma Adhikary. A full flagged marriage ceremony was organized on 28th November 2013 at the Pratyush Bhaban. Dr. Faloguni Sarkar took one of the important financial responsibilities of that marriage. The wedding event between Soma and Aloke ended with full of satisfaction.
Pratyush also organized another marriage of Sandhya Saha. She came from a poor family and Sandhya was an active member of handicraft wing (Ushashi) of Pratyush. So, Pratyush took the responsibility of organizing her marriage. Sri Atul Jain played a significant role for organizing her marriage.
Children were participated in the NATURE CAMP
Sk. Abdul Sattar, Subrata Sarkar, Sukumar Sarkar, Sk. Kutubuddin and Sonali khatun participated in the nature camp (15-18 December,2013) organized by Erreta Mountaineering Foundation of Hridaypur, Barasat. Madhumita Saha, Ashis Sen, Taslima Nasrin, Tajmira khatun, Nazim Ali, Fatema Khatun, Sujit Sikdar, Sk. Firoj and Sanchita Dey participated in the nature camp (25-30 December) organized by Bhoruka Mountaineering Trust, Kolkata. The graduation ceremony was held on 22nd February, 2014.
Mahul Chakraborty felicited
One of the founder member, Dr. Mahul Chakraborty was felicitated on 4th January 2014 for his educational achievement (did his Ph.D. from Rochester University,USA) and contribution for the care and protection of the destitute children.
Foundation Day observed
Members, children, guardians and well wishers of Pratyush observed the Fifteenth Foundation day of Pratyush on 9th January 2014. Though it was a regular week day (Thursday), all the people came at Pratyush Bhaban and hoisted the Flag of Pratyush. Secretary Dr. Aniruddha Chakraborty and President Sri Nikhilesh Sengupta deliberated a short speech covering the formation and development history of Pratyush. Then some used garment was distributed among the 125 poor people residing nearby Pratyush centre. At last sweets were distributed to all attendees.
Educational tour
Sangrampur village of Swarup Nagar Police station which belongs to North 24 Pargans district was selected for the educational tour for the children of Pratyush. One bus was reserved for the purpose and the whole team reached in the village at about 10 am on 19th January 2014. Sangrampur was situated on the bank of river Ichhamoti. Children of Pratyush along with members visited many of the village households and collected socio-economic data . They took lunch which was arranged by the villagers. A colourful cultural program was organized in the school premises of the village.
Annual Cultural competition
The Annual Cultural competition was held on 25th & 26th January 2014 at Pratyush Bhaban. It was organized to evaluate the performances of the children. This would help the organizers to prepare the next plan of action. A list of significant dignitaries were present on that day, namely Prof. Bikas Sinha (professor ISI), Sri Gour Mitra (littérateur), Smt. Karabi Ganguly ( handicraft expert), Smt. Dalia Saha (recitation expert), Smt. Tripti Sengupta (recitation expert), Sri Olive Sarkar (musician), Sri Jit Chakraborty (singer), Smt. Dyutilekha Mukherjee (singer). Food was served for two days amongst the children, guardians, evaluators and the dignitaries present on that occasion.
Secretary of Pratyush felicitated
Secretary, Dr. Anirudha Chakraborty was felicitated for his restless efforts for the children who need care and protection by ANKUR, a welfare organization of Barasat on 5th January 2014, by PARISHROMI of Birati on 9th February’2014, and, by Habra High High school on 2nd February, 2014.
BISWA MATRIBHASA DIBAS celebration
Children and members of Pratyush participated in a program organized by the Barasat Matribhasa Samity to celebrate BISWA MATRIBHASA DIBAS on 21st February, 2014. Aniruddha Chakraborty, secretary of Pratyush deliberated a speech about the relevance of mother tongue with the development of children.
Pratyush also felicitated Prof. Jayanta Kumar Ghosh (galpo dadu) as a recipient of the Padmashree award given by Govt. of India.
80th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY of NILDADU celebrated
80th BIRTH ANNIVERSARY of NILDADU was celebrated on 4th March, 2014 at Pratyush Bhaban with joy and full of enthusiasm. Children, guardians and members brought beautiful gifts and flower bouquet for NILDADU (poet Nilacharya). A colorful cultural program was presented by the children. Cake was distributed on the occasion. At the end a very attractive lunch was provided for all.
Guardians’ PICNIC
Like previous years, guardians annual PICNIC was organized on 23rd February 2014 at Choto Jagulia, Barasat. All the guardians participated in the picnic. Some of them performed songs, comedy shows and acting. At last, a sport item called HIT THE PITCHER created enormous excitement and joy among the all. Sri Nikhilesh Sengupta, Indranath Banerjee and Aniruddha Chakraborty participated in the PICNIC.
Appreciation NEWS
Miss Sushmita Saha and Madhumita Saha got the certificate for their successful completion of 2nd year and primary year recitation course from Prachin Kala Kendra (Chandigarh).
HAPPY DIWALI
Children participated to celebrate Diwali and cracked firewroks on the roof of Pratyush Bhaban.

(c) Sad demise :
(i) Sri Parimal Chakraborty – Chief Advisor of Pratyush died on 7th February 2015 at the age of 92.
(ii) Sri Pareshlal Karmakar – one of the eminent members and treasurer of Pratyush died on 15th November 2014.
